Veterans, Are You Living Your Highest and Truest Expression of Yourself?

Are you aware that recent scientific research has determined that our bodies have no dietary requirement for carbohydrates?

And the thought that the USDA and the FDA have been wrong and don’t seem to want to admit it has my head spinning.

What I discovered is that we only need 4 grams of glucose, which is approximately one teaspoon of sugar, in that pristine human machine of yours. 4 grams of glucose is the optimal set point for proper functioning of the human vascular system. And I’m certain you know that glucose is a carbohydrate in its simplest form. And that we have glucose reserves tied up as glycogen in your muscles and liver. But did you know that your liver can and will supply your glucose needs through glycogenolysis? The biologically miraculous machine that you are is designed to make chemical and hormonal adjustments to maintain your specific equilibrium-until it breaks.

And dependent on where you are on the health spectrum, any number of health challenges can manifest and potentially go undetected.

So why does the SAD recommend that we consume somewhere between 200 and 300 grams of carbohydrates per day? Let’s look at some of the details that have been overlooked.

For example, recently I watched a video post by Dr. Robert Kiltz. Dr. Kiltz is an infertility specialist who also specializes in endocrinology. He has been able to reverse several health challenges for himself and several of his patients with simple lifestyle changes, eliminating the need for medical intervention.

In the video he compared fuel used in a Ferrari and a Yugo to the human body.  Both Italian cars on different ends of the spectrum. The Ferrari of course is the creme-del-a-crème of the auto industry, in which we fuel with super octane petrol for best performance. Whereas with the Yugo, it will perform, but at way lower standards.

So, my question to you is, why are you fueling the fine human specimen that you are with low grade fuel?

Why have we been encouraged to feed our bodies with foods that have low to no nutritional value?

Whether or not you’ve served in the military, I think you can easily relate. At boot camp, we were served 3 square meals a day, maybe a snack or two from the vending machines, a trip to Shoppette, or a care package from friends or family.

We walked everywhere. Like college life but more marching and standing at attention all the time. And with physical training every morning, burning off the excess and very unnecessary carbohydrates was a synch. Once we got to our duty station, and dependent on your assignment, your job could be very physically engaging or very sedentary. Which would mean, given your genetic disposition and the rate of your metabolism, if you had a sedentary job, you would either spend more time in the gym or deprive yourself of eating delightful and addictive carbohydrates, such as cakes, cookies, breads, and even traditionally home-prepared meals with rice, potatoes, or pasta, to maintain your ideal figure.

And for us women, I won’t even mention the impact of childbirth on our bodies. Optimal health can be a struggle.

And then we retire. With our livelihood no longer constrained by military rules and regulations, for most of us, our service dress will remain dormant in our closets for fear of ripping at the seams.

So why is it that over the years, while living by the standards that have been set for us, we have treated our bodies like a Yugo instead of a Ferrari?

We fill our tanks with fuel meant to just get us by. Knowledge is key and it is my intent to share with you how a nutritionally dense food choice is the super octane fuel for the amazing human machine that you are. Not only will it impact your physique, but it will also impact your health and mental clarity. For years, you have all lived a life of service before self. With a few adjustments, you can factor in a little self-before-service and take full control of your life.
